Brief Description:  Firewall forward wiring

Worked on firewall forward wiring.

Installed a #6 braided strap from the battery to the equipment tray, to both coils, to ground bus on the tray, to the regulator, to the starter, and to two bonding points on the engine. The strap is attached on the bottom of the tray using the mounting bolts of the various devices. The braid on the strap was spread in the center and the bolt fed through the resulting hole. That way no strands were cut. Fender washers were used to spread the current load across the strap where possible. A #10 strap was attached from the battery negative to the firewall using one of the longeron corner bracket bolts. The strap is continued on the cockpit side of the bolt and will be attached to a ground bus for the instrument panel.

Checked that there was good ground continuity from the battery to the airframe, equipment tray, and engine. From experience, there can never be too many grounding points, and preferably with minimal resistance drop to the battery from all devices.

A #6 cable was run from the positive battery terminal to the master relay. The #6 continues on the output of the master relay to the starter. A #10 positive cable with an in-line 30 amp fuse was run from the master solenoid into the cockpit for instrument panel power.

Various through firewall wires were run into the cockpit for connection to the instrument panel.

The various cable were bundled into protective sleeving. I'm sure I'll need to add/change/move wires, so minimal securing of the sleeving was done. Some of the wires will need to penetrate the baffling when that is done.
